The Crescent Learning Further Education Library of Procurement (FELP) website has been designed with accessibility in mind, and should therefore be as accessible to as many modern browsing devices as possible, including screen readers and mobile browsers. This website has been conceived and designed with accessibility in mind.
At all stages of its production, care has been taken to ensure that people who use this site are able to do so, regardless of ability and how they access and interact with the pages. This has been achieved by optimising the HTML, moving style and layout to an external style sheet (where possible) and giving users the ability to change text size to suit their needs. No graphics have been used to convey important information which is not otherwise available textually, and tables used in laying out the pages continue to make sense when linearised.
The intention is that this website achieves and exceeds (where possible) WCAG Priority 2 checkpoints (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). The site is designed to be compatible with screen reader technologies.
This website complies with XHTML and CSS standards as recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colours, positioning, spacing, etc.) to Web documents. This website runs Bootstrap version 3 and is therefore compatible with most modern browsers, as well as some older browsers such as Internet Explorer.
This website's usage of bootstrap means that the website layout and content is built to give a mobile-first experience. While the website will continue to function normally on desktop, the user experience has been optimised for mobile users, as mobile users have a more specific requirements set that must be reached in order to make the site accessible.
