It is important that all staff involved in committing an Institution’s funds does so in an ethical manner. He/she must not only place the business in an open, transparent and non-discriminatory manner but must also be able to demonstrate this.

The Institution’s procurement policies and procedures have two purposes
 

  • to help ensure that value for money is obtained when committing the institution’s funds and
  • to help protect the member of staff performing the procurement activity from claims of unfair treatment. In essence, if the member of staff is following the prescribed procedures this is a defence should a complaint arise.
